Review 1:

Lecturer & tutor: Han Ji-Won

What it’s about: It is a continuation of LAK2201. If you are intending to take this module, I strongly recommend that you revise and self-learn during the may-jul semester break because this module is a whole lot harder than LAK2201. Practise the grammar and vocab you have learnt in LAK2201.

Assignment workload: There are 2 assignments: both written essays — one in formal language and the other in 반말 (informal language). For the participation component, you simply need to watch the e-learning and participate in class.

Thoughts about the lecturer: She is a really pleasant woman! She always makes an attempt to make the class more lively and allows equal participation from everyone.

Project workload & question/theme: For the skit, you have to prepare a script and record a video of you and your partner acting out the skit. Thankfully, you do not have to go to the different places cause it would have been so time-consuming!

Readings: None.

Exam: Written tests are exactly the same format as LAK2201 and LAK1201 but of course, harder. For oral test 1, you are given a one-page script which you have to read and submit your recording to IVLE workbin. It is a little hard if you are struggling with pronunciation but I have to admit after numerous practices with this script, you can actually improve your speed of reading and pronunciation. For oral test 2, which is held after the finals, is in question-and-answer format. Your lecturer will pose different questions and you just answer them using those grammar and vocab you have learnt. That’s why it’s essential to participate during class to be well-prepared for this oral test!!!

Recommended if: This module is extremely time-consuming, it is not like LAK2201. So take this module if you are taking other easier, lightweight modules because you really need to spend a lot of time on LAK3201. Anyway, language modules require time and effort. Consistent effort is crucial.

Rating: 3.5/5 (To be honest, during the semester I was struggling a hell lot so i would give a rating of 2/5 but overall, I still had much enjoyment learning a new language so 3.5/5.)

Expected grade: B

Actual grade: B+
